8th Grade Students! May 2010 Dear Parents of Eighth Grade Students: On Friday, June 11, 8th grade students will be attending the “Fun Day” promotion activity. We will be going to Sunsplash in Roseville. This activity is a privilege for those students who have maintained acceptable grades with no “F’s”, exhibited good citizenship, maintained at least 85 merits, met all promotion requirements and passed all competencies. The cost is $30. This amount will cover entrance to Sunsplash, food (a pizza lunch with drinks), bus transportation, and all other promotion activities including the Promotion Dance on June 4. We do have a limited number of scholarships available for those who need financial assistance. Please be aware that we must pre order the SunSplash tickets. Therefore, if a student has turned in a permission slip and paid, and then loses merits and is no longer eligible to participate, we will not be able to offer refunds. Merits will be checked on Friday, May 28. Please complete the bottom section and have your student return it to his/her American Studies teacher, along with a check made out to Rolling Hills Middle School, by Friday, May 7. NO STUDENTS MAY RIDE HOME FROM SUNSPLASH WITH ANOTHER STUDENT’S PARENT! THIS IS DISTRICT POLICY.

________________________________________________ ___________________ Please help our very own Rolling Hills Odyssey of the Mind Team go to the World Finals! Please support our team from Rolling HIlls Middle School. The team qualified to attend the World Finals for Odyssey of the Mind to be held in Michigan to be held at the end of May. They are trying to get funding for the trip in the form of a grant from Raley's grocery store. Raleys are giving a total of 5 grants and approximately 275 teams or organizations are trying to get them. In order to be given the grant, they need as many people to vote for them as possible. Raleys is asking the the community to vote on who should receive the funding. You may vote once per day per person (only once please per the rules) beginning today, and ending May 12th. The 5 organizations or teams receiving the most votes win the grant. Here is the link and steps to take.
Step 1: Go to http://raleys.com/reach/1420750
Step 2: If not already registered, please register (they do a lot of things like this that benefit our kids and community)
Step 3: Go the link above and vote once per day through May 12.
Thanks for your support of this team! We really appreciate it!
